Parish Life

Come to any St. X Church social event, Mass or activity and you will see dozens of people involved. Parishioners organize, minister and volunteer for nearly all of the activities we conduct. We are all called to service and St. Xavier Church is counting on you to become involved in all aspects of parish life, thereby enriching your own.

In the fall of 2018, our community reflected on what it means to be a Jesuit parish.  This was a Parish Examen, of sorts.  After several months of deliberation, our GOALS AND COMMITMENTS were reflected in the Pastor's letter to the Jesuit Provincial in Chicago.  Though not exhaustive, these goals will be a guide or a strategic plan for us going forward.  See the Parish Examen report HERE.

We invite you to participate in our parish life in many ways:

Liturgical ministry is a spiritually rewarding service to God and your fellow members. All training needed for lectors, sacristans, servers, ushers, Eucharistic ministers, etc. is organized by the parish.

Parish ministry includes activities within the parish, but outside of Mass, such as discussion groups, Communications Group and Worship Commission.

Outreach is part of the guiding philosophy of our parish: “Inward reflection, Outward action.” We have a responsibility to serve those in our surrounding communities who are in need spiritually, physically, emotionally or financially. While sometimes the most challenging way to serve, especially when the need seems so great, or the positive results of our efforts aren’t readily apparent, participating in outreach opens us to the influence of the Holy Spirit in powerful ways.

Social activities are by no means secondary for St. X Church, and many hands are required to make them happen. When we build social bonds with parish friends, we model the kind of relationship Christ invites us each to have with him. From outings to simple gatherings, your help is needed to organize, execute and build participation.
