Name: St. Xavier Health Ministry
Purpose: Promoting spiritual growth through healthy living.
Goal: To raise awareness on health issues and provide resources to the parish and the larger community in response to our Christian call to charity and our Jesuit call to be men and women for others.
Mission: The St. Xavier Health Ministry draws upon the hallmark of Ignatian spirituality known as cura personalis (the care of the whole person) to guide the integration of mind, body, and spirit so that all human beings have the dignity of being respected as unique creations of God. This holistic approach results in a total sense of well-being and an embracing of humanity in the person of Jesus. The ministry strives to better equip each person to live the gift of life to its fullest and to draw upon the strengths and talents of others from our faith community.
Action: The St. Xavier Health Ministry will seek to provide lectures, classes, screenings, health fairs, and other events on a monthly basis. Qualified and certified groups and organizations may be invited to provide services to our constituents. All programs will be done in accord with applicable laws, guidelines, and prudence to ensure the care of the client and to protect the institution of St. Xavier from liability.
Ministry Membership: The steering committee, aka Health Ministry Cabinet, shall be overseen by the Pastoral Associate for Outreach under the auspices of the pastor. Membership shall include, but not be limited to: professional health care providers (physicians, nurses, dietitians, emergency medical technicians, counselors, mental health professionals), clergy, and others as may be deemed appropriate.
Volunteers: Due to the nature of health ministry, parish volunteers who may participate in the activities of the Healthy Ministry will do so at the discretion of the Cabinet.
