We Need Your Help
NUESTRA SENORA de NAZARET
Our sister parish in Peru
The Jesuits of the Peru and Chicago Provinces partnered with each other in the late 50’s to start this mission. Within a four square-mile area, the Jesuit parish of Virgen de Nazaret has more than 130,000 parishioners. As it does throughout the world, the Jesuit community continues its dedication to helping these poor and struggling people.
Since 1999 St. Xavier Church has had a twinning relationship with Nuestra Senora de Nazaret (Our Lady of Nazareth), a Jesuit parish located in the El Agostino neighborhood of Lima, Peru. The parish serves nearly 60,000 people through 11 chapels. As a Jesuit parish, it sponsors a variety of vocational (job training), schools, catechetical programs (religious formation), and pastoral outreach programs. Per the recommendation of the directors of the parish, we support programs for adolescents and young adults. By helping the young people of the area to get a good education, grow in their Catholic faith, and assume leadership for the future, we believe we can help make a difference in the lives of countless Peruvians. Having visited this parish several times, I can attest to the courageous and good work the Jesuits and their collaborators have done for over 40 years.
Once again we are making an appeal to our parishioners and friends to help support this parish. I ask that you consider helping us to help them with their basic needs to serve freely and without worry. In the past parishioners of St. Xavier Church have been very generous in their assistance to this parish; for that I thank you.
You may mail your donation or drop it in our Sunday collection in an envelope marked PERU. Every gift we receive will go directly to our sister parish for their ministries.
The Cincinnati area has a strong tradition of supporting the Jesuit missions. I am proud of yet humbled by the generosity of our parishioners and friends who have contributed in the past.
In addition to a yearly collection, St. Xavier Church members make an annual mission trip to our sister parish in Peru. To learn about joining us on that mission trip, CLICK HERE.
Thank you in advance for your support of Our Lady of Nazareth parish. May the work of our hands and the meditation of our hearts be pleasing to the Lord and thereby give greater glory to God.
